Wireless technology replaces network cables with radio links transmitted from a Wireless Router, or from a Wireless Access Point, to wireless network cards installed in your computers.

The big advantage of wireless is that it requires no cabling, making the internet available practically anywhere in or around your building. This is very useful for laptop users, allowing the flexibility for you to surf the internet wherever you please; out in the garden, sitting on the coach or even in bed.

Network printers and other network-ready devices may also be connected wirelessly through a wireless ethernet bridge or print server, or you can easily add wireless connections to your existing Ethernet network.

Wireless internet may be used to refer to;

Wireless internet access provided by satellite and mobile networks. This type of internet access is expensive and as a result typically only used in areas where access to DSL or cable broadband is unavailable. It offers fast download speeds, but very slow upload speeds. This type of internet access is only a viable option if infrastructure for other types of broadband is unavailable.

Wi-Fi
is a simple way of sharing a fixed broadband connection (like DSL or cable) in your home or office without using cables. It is particularly useful when there are multiple computers as they can access the same internet connection. Laptops may also be used as mobile devices so that the internet is available anywhere in your home or office and even in the surrounding outdoor area.
